Project Management

Whether it’s within the music industry, independent publishing, or the marketing and creative field, I’ve managed projects that operated on local, national, and global levels. From planning several international tours and countless promotional campaigns for T.O.F.U. Magazine to creating and executing numerous successful social media plans for a locally owned and operated spa in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, I’m comfortable with managing tasks and teams of varying sizes.

Music Industry

Since my days as the Event Coordinator for the Ceilidh Connection, an all-ages venue in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, I’ve developed the skills necessary to oversee volunteers and staff while planning a variety of events with different needs. From managing shows at the venue to organizing a free outdoor festival in the downtown core, I oversaw countless productions while also attending university.

After graduation, I continued to gain experience in the music industry by coordinating events, managing artists, and overseeing the production and release of numerous albums through Tumbleweed Entertainment. During this time, I was nominated as Music Nova Scotia Promoter of the Year 2004, Booking Agent of the Year 2006 & 2007, and Company of the Year 2007.

Independent Publishing

Along with overseeing Tumbleweed, I also began T.O.F.U. Magazine in 2007 after the success of three previous independent publications. Over the years, I’ve managed the production of numerous issues involving authors, artists, advertisers, photographers, and more from around the world while also developing the brand and broadening its audience. Thanks to these efforts, as well as several promotional tours and countless social media campaigns, the magazine maintains a great reputation within the vegan and animal rights community, and it was nominated internationally as one of the best vegan magazines in the VegfestUK Awards 2018.

Outside of vegan-related publishing, I’ve also written, published, and promoted works of my own that touch on a number of topics. If all goes well, I plan to continue this creative endeavour while managing the magazine and other freelance projects.

Marketing and Creative Industry

Outside of my own businesses, I also spent numerous years working for digital agencies with a variety of clients, and I’ve continued to work in this field through freelance contracts since quitting my full-time job.

Within the industry, I’ve overseen quality assurance for a project with Discovery Networks, developed website content with the Nunatsiavut Government, created and implemented a number of social media campaigns with a small business client that led to a considerable increase in online sales, and more. With all of these projects, I worked with developers, graphic designers, and others to ensure that deadlines were met and goals were accomplished.

Herding Cats

Time and time again, regardless of the industry or client, I’ve demonstrated my ability to manage people and ensure that projects were successful even when it felt more difficult than herding cats.

Of course, as a long-term house sitter, I’ve also become pretty adept at doing that too.
