Social Media
When I first started using social media to promote something, MySpace was king. Obviously, things have changed since then. Even though it can be tough to keep-up with all the latest options, especially when it comes to spreading awareness of your brand effectively, I do welcome the fact that we now have more than one platform to choose from in order to share our message.
Side note: don’t worry how Tom is doing after losing so many friends. It seems he’s doing just fine these days.
Over the years, MySpace hasn’t been the only network that I invested time in before it faded. In fact, I even held a presence on one or two vegan-specific social media platforms that eventually disappeared. Yes, I’m looking at you Bleat.
Thankfully, some of the bigger ones are still around, and I’ve gained followings for both T.O.F.U. and myself on many of them. Prior to choosing self-employment and full-time travel, I also developed campaigns and social media identities for a number of clients through my work with the digital marketing agency, JAC.
Whether it was for those clients or my own benefit, I’ve spent countless hours designing visuals, crafting posts, overseeing advertising campaigns, writing newsletters, managing communities, and analyzing data on everything from Facebook to tumblr. As outlined in my work with T.O.F.U., maintaining this presence has been crucial to ensuring the success of my business as it depends so much on the conversion of views to online sales.
Thus, as the social media landscape continues to change and new players enter the fray, I’ll be sure to keep tabs on them to see what will work best for my interests. Although, to be totally honest, you probably won’t see me dancing at any point soon.
